Living outside the box!
This post is specially dedicated to the
people who stay away from their home for achieving some goals or at least have
been once a part of this in their life time. First of all cheers to you all!
P.I: It doesn't include short trips or
vacations.
It’s said life begins at the end of your
comfort zone and a testimony to it is the people who stay away from their home
& family; maybe for education, job, fulfilling some commitments etc. I
recommend all of you to go out of your zones and explore the world outside. It
teaches you a lot more than what you intend to. It makes you rich in
experiences and teaches you how to handle situations and people effectively.
Once you are outside your nest, with a
nasty amount of independence, you'll also realize the certain amount of
challenges you get with it. Homesick being the biggest factor. It’s not all
goodie goodie as it may seem. But yeah it’s not that bad too.
Hostel/PG life as alluring as it may sound
has its own catch. First things first, as soon as you enter you notice
strikingly new place, new people, new lingo or local way of talking (kadak na
bhava), new plethora of food which most of the times may not go down with your
tummy well. Just when you're about to get hang of things and digest the fact
that you're alone in this crowd of strangers new challenges peep up.
Starting with the problem of accommodation,
even though its hostel it’s never straight as it seems. They'll make you slog
and work your ass out even after paying them as if they're giving their flat
for free (You are taking shelter in my land. Let me harass you a bit). PG are definitely a step ahead of it, troubles version 2.0! Finally, you do settle in but soon you realize
there's no one to talk or share a laugh with. There is no sense of 'home' in
that 'house'. You call your people a lot, talk to them and tell about missing them.
They console you about making new friends but it’s not that easy as it’s said.
More than efforts, you need luck to find friends. The locals lobby against
outsiders as is the customary ritual everywhere. Gradually they do become your
friends, but shallow ones as at the end of the day they go back to their people
and mock about the outsiders. Maybe not all, few of them are actually good. Not
like outsiders don't mock the locals. We're better at it. Again version 2.0.
But one advantage of this is you know how to identify the real soul in the
person and also to some extent bond with people. Next comes food. Oh god
everyone remembers their mother when it comes to this. However tasty the food might be, there is nothing
better than homemade food. But sadly in most cases the local cuisine is one
that upsets your tummy and mind. More than time it takes patience to get used
to it. Salute my brave fellas. :D
Living life on your own has its own stupid
challenges. You start doing things which you never think you would have some
months back. Washing your clothes & ironing them, paying bills, managing
money, cooking, putting up your mind to stay with random strangers etc. It’s
like bracing yourself for life ahead. You learn a lot in this phase. Academics
are just a small part included in it. Duniyadari samaj mein aa jati hai. It’s
like you get hands on experience of how the world works & how bitter things
can be when you’re outside the protective cocoon of your house. True, you are
vulnerable to anything & everything, but the way you overcome it certainly
makes you a stronger person than the rest.
Days pass on to become months. You adapt
& fine tune yourself to the alien world surrounding you. But things start
seeming better if not the best. You realize to take the best from everything is
the way to enjoy it. You realize the value of things and smallest things make
you happy. Catching the earlier bus home & coming across someone who talks
in your mother tongue charges you up. It’s crazy how things change. The royal
treatment you get on going back home is something to cherish. Everything that
you like is cooked and the way you’re pampered is also so awesome. The feeling
of going back home is priceless. All the wait seems worth when you
consider all this.
So I would urge you to at least once go and
experience the madness in this outer world. We’re living in a pond, go
experience the waves in the ocean outside. You’ll be an avid surfer & learn
to rescue yourself in harsh moments.
Words
fall short to describe everything. The magic weaved around the journey from a
kid to a matured person is way too damn trippy! A single decision of going
outside the box & going head on into the world will be one of the things
you’ll be proud of when you grow old and will be sitting on the rolling chair
thinking about your life.
Bon voyage amigo.
Awesome..!! And soo true..!
