A Sky Full of Stars

Image
We’re surrounded by an array of diverse mind blowing geography and life forms. Yet what we see is just a little speck of this ‘phenomenal’ ecosystem, because we’re so used to seeing the land as the only source of exploration.  Our daily life has made us so glued to looking horizontally, that we’ve forgotten the flexible functionality of our neck.  We haven’t even dived deep into the ocean. There is a far bigger universe inside that sunken treasure than the whole of our land can accommodate. With mountains bigger than Everest, Corals fascinating than man-made marvels and marine life complex and gorgeous than bird life, there is just so much that we’re unaware about. Although, magnanimous in size, explorations over several hundred years can make us fairly understand the mysteries of oceans, if not completely. But there is also an infinite world out there, of which the Earth is just a tiny minuscule part. We’re just a very small part of the solar system, and again the s...

Growing up

Image
The early 20’s phase. Grads/Post-grads who are out into the world basically to either find a job or become the employer (read as entrepreneur). It’s that phase wherein you ought to make stuff happen, the most dynamic phase, perhaps. But then again, there is a slim ratio which gets what they had desired for and a majority settles for something quite not so fancy as a start. Well, we all know the struggles and how to cope with it. I’m here to talk about something which is so ingrained with all this process that it gets overlooked quite often and we call it as a part of growing up. A quick question, when was the last time you’d a really big circle of friends gathering up for some dinner or picnic? Is the frequency consistent as it was when you were in college? I completely agree that we’re more stressed out with work and our schedules look bleak now. But how many times you’ve been actually enthusiastic about such thing or rather tried to ignore it altogether? Well, that my friend is...

Get Liberated!

I sometimes wonder how life must've been for the people who dwelled in caves... I guess a pretty simple one, hopping off place to place. Nomads, as some might refer them to as. Life must have been pretty chill compared to today's insane, complex version.  Today even a person without a stable internet connection who isn't active in the 'virtual' world is considered more of a social outcast. Of course this holds true for people only who live in fairly civilised & developed areas, but considering the current stats, it's safe to say more or less everyone has access to cell phones & consequently internet. Also free desktops/laptops (if you belong to Goa) Courtesy: Govt. of Goa's digital scheme. Perhaps, life decided to give me a practical taste of it rather than just pondering about it. So I had it as fate would have wanted. Desktop, Laptop, Mobile all screwed up in a series of succession. My peers termed it to be "saade-saati" or bad ...

Post-college blues

Image
College life... Ah! Those beautiful days. Perhaps the last attempt at getting out of your inhibitions and doing all insane foolery. One of the final phases where you have a lot of wealth of friends and peers and there is a healthy ecosystem of mad creative energies charging out. Always cushioned by the comfort and support of friends, teachers and everyone in general. Where nothing out of the world is expected from you and life just seems chill. We feel grown-up, independent and enjoy this feeling and riding high on it keep marching. Unless, when you pass out of college and enter into the more materialistic world. Life post college. Welcome to version 25.0 (yes, because it's not a gradual change, it's a drastic huge leap). We're made to believe that all the transitions we've had from school to higher secondary and then to college are all gradual when we come to this point. The mad race for searching a job starts (Campus recruits, you won't understand the pain) and...

Surreal yet real

This post is a bit out of the box and a very elaborate one. It is about my experiences of that amazing, spine chilling, mother of all thrillers night. So brace yourselves. Many of you, at least the goan pals, might've heard about the famous 'Gadyanchi Jatra of Sal'. To break it down, 'Gade' can roughly be called as players. 'Jatra' can be described as a periodical festival celebrated in honour of an idol or local deity. To further clarify, the happenings that occur in this festival are mystic and can be attributed to the cause of supernatural forces. Though science does not believe in the existence of life after death, many cultures in the world have a lot of rituals dedicated to ghosts and spirits. Before some of you jump off to the conclusion of calling it rubbish and declaring it to be another post spreading superstition in this age of advancement, I ask you to further read on. Even I'm a science student and trust me I'd taken this down...

Travelling pants

Image
No! I have not started with my own line of travelling pants or this isn't about an advertisement for some firm selling pants. I haven’t gone that bankrupt yet, fortunately. This is about something more than pants. Travelling! Like many would wonder what’s the great deal about travelling? I travel on a daily basis slogging my ass off in a crowded bus/train. Frankly, it’s annoying and why is this guy writing a post on it?  As many have said, it’s not your destination but the journey that matters. The problem with we hating our routine travelling to work or college is that it’s the same route, same time, and almost same set of people and same sequence of locations you visually experience. It’s as good as when you wake up groggily in the morning, you pee, brush your teeth and also the later events follow ‘subconsciously’ because your mind is trained and knows the drill. There is no much twist in the plot unless you decide to shake things up. Like for instance, we can change the...

Never grow up!

BEWARE: Entering nostalgia mode! The best times of our life - childhood days. Sweet, plain & simple. The fun, frolic, curiosity, innocence, fearlessness and stupidity is pretty much everything that characterises ones childhood. Right from the time we’re born. Anything and everything amuses us to no end. We don’t understand whether it’s meant for us, silly or dangerous, fun or nonsensical. We just love to explore everything. Right from opening up a toy to see what’s inside to eating any random stuff. The madness is undefined and unlimited. Fear is an unknown term & we attempt to do some amazing stunts which would scare us to hell even now. For instance, I remember during my childhood, I’d once put my finger inside a working sewing machine. The needle had went through the finger and I was smiling when my mother came inside the room apparently because I found it novel. (Can needles too poke inside? Yeah they do was the answer I got) oh yes, it is strange, I didn’t cry!...
