The Joy of Rains

There are hardly any people in this world who haven’t loved rains at some or the other point of time in their life. Rain has that magic that captivates your soul and soothes it to eternity. It is just pure bliss. The blooming of flowers, the growth of fresh tender leaves, the gushing streams, the chirping birds and greenery associated with rains just melts the heart and brings an instant smile on the face. The mere thought process is also such an instant stress-buster.    Well... so who doesn’t love rains? Just recall the following experiences; The sound of heavy rains on the roof, the smell of mud on receiving first showers, the sensation of rain on your body, the water puddles, the crazy rain dances and games you’ve with your pals, the sound of a waterfall, the thundering, the lightening. Aah! Phenomenal. Isn’t it? There is no age-limit to loving it. While children enjoy the puddles and paper boats, adults fancy their chances of getting cosy with their loved ones...

Pune, Punekar & Puneri!

P.I: All the views below are in good humor and needn’t be taken seriously unless you’re too adamant and a jackass! 2 years of crazy times. Absolutely mental. That’s how I’ll remember Pune as. It taught me a lot. If experience is supposed to be your greatest teacher. This was the mother of all experiences. Well, to start with Pune is so annoying at times that even though you’re in a good mood it’ll set up situations such that it’ll literally gate-crash into your mind and upset your perfect plan. In fact, it was so frequent that even though when we used to plan going on a trip either home or outstation (which was planned after considering every tiny bit of nonsense that might get in the way) we were all the time in a dilemma is this happening for real? Such is the aura of the place. Not being negative, but that’s how I learnt the first lesson that everything will not go according to as you’ve planned all the times (hereby, most of the times) so you either need to have a bac...

Yeh hai Mumbai meri jaan

Image
We call it by many names. Some call it the maximum city, some the city that never sleeps, some the city of dreams, some the land of Bollywood, some the financial capital of India and so on and so forth. The commercial and fashion capital of India. Almost every other Indian dreams of making it big in Mumbai and living THE lifestyle like a boss! It is probably the only city which has so many songs (& movies too) penned to its name ranging from Yeh hai Bombay meri jaan to Mumbai nagariya. Right from Tendulkar's to Tatas and Bachchan's to Mangueshkars the land has all the dreamy people. Whereas, on the other hand you also have people like KRK and Poonam pandey co-existing. Although it’s a land made up by reclaiming and connecting 7 islands the place never seems partitioned. It's all one rock strong unit just the way Mumbaikar spirit is - Unfazed and unmatched. From Churchgate to Virar, Mahim to Thane; it is one  mesmerizing  land. The place is always full of activity....

Go Goa… Gone??

There used to be an ad by the state tourism dept. which proudly boasted of ‘Go Goa, 365 days holiday’. I think they still promote it as the same. Goa as a holiday destination round the year. Seriously? Considering the current situation, it really needs to be thought about the way it is being projected. Do they even think about carrying capacity or sustainable tourism? If you do some number crunching & look at the land/ infrastructure and the number of people dropping in like swarm of bees you’ll gasp in shock for a minute at the tremendous density pressure. Do try! A phenomenal number of people come every year to Goa. National as well as international, the former crowd being the major chunk of it. When asked why they visit Goa? Most of them laugh loudly and answer cheap booze and grin when questioned about the access of drugs (Of course, there are people who visit and fit into the decent, no nonsense tourist category; but unfortunately the number is comparatively few). Shamel...
