Travelling pants

No! I have not started with my own line of travelling pants or this isn't about an advertisement for some firm selling pants. I haven’t gone that bankrupt yet, fortunately. This is about something more than pants. Travelling! Like many would wonder what’s the great deal about travelling? I travel on a daily basis slogging my ass off in a crowded bus/train. Frankly, it’s annoying and why is this guy writing a post on it?

As many have said, it’s not your destination but the journey that matters. The problem with we hating our routine travelling to work or college is that it’s the same route, same time, and almost same set of people and same sequence of locations you visually experience. It’s as good as when you wake up groggily in the morning, you pee, brush your teeth and also the later events follow ‘subconsciously’ because your mind is trained and knows the drill. There is no much twist in the plot unless you decide to shake things up. Like for instance, we can change the route, change the modes of travel, perhaps set out early, take a relatively calmer route, experience the happenings around etc.

Now again the problem that lies herein is that you cannot do this circus every day. For a simple reason that, well… everyone loves to keep their job/ not get suspended from college. But then again, that little bit of change you experienced is refreshing and now you’re tempted to try this, which brings me to the real point. Travelling… but this time to soak in the weather, culture, food and learn the experiences of world; a planned trip, outing or just a sojourn. As Dalai Lama has rightly said “Once a year, go some place you've never been before.” It’ll add to your enlightenment about the world and you’ll be a happier person.

There is nothing as lovely as travelling. Right from the pre-excitement it builds up in you like browsing stuff, planning your itinerary, assembling your team. Albeit sudden or rather unplanned trips are the best, which just go on building up and there’s a certain level of curiosity for you never know what is next. Everything is spontaneous and sometimes impulsive. But, these often turn out to be the best and most memorable experiences of life.

So what is it that makes travelling so enchanting? The desire to see a new place, interact with local culture, amuse ourselves with local people and traditions, gulp on the unique cuisine is all something that charges us up. This wholesome package is something surreal. It’s more of you living their lives and shedding your monotonous life back at your home town for that period of time. Travelling makes us all richer in experiences and wiser in decisions. The type of closure the journey gives you about the world and its people is something you seek for unknowingly. Perhaps, that’s why the contentment of a trip is so overwhelming because our desires are fulfilled in a disguise. The thing that we talk about it for weeks to come, after it’s been done is just a testimony to the same & of course spamming others timeline on social media with regular check-in updates and numerous selfies.

Whatever might be the structure; Family, friends or solo touring, a journey will often lead you to solving some of the most difficult questions you ponder about life either in the bathroom, while having your meal or staring blankly at your office desktop. As they say, Nature is the greatest healer and in its realm everyone is content.

Well if you still aren't inspired, I’d recommend you to watch some movies like ZNMD, Dil chahta hai, Into the wild, The open road, The secret life of Walter Mitty, etc. These should probably give you the well needed boost to travel, for life has lots to offer on your plate (our beautiful planet), you just need to have the appetite (enthusiasm) for it.

So stop just googling for those images. Set your dates, put on your back pack and just hit the roads. Oh yes, don’t forget to wear your travelling pants. Huehuehue !

Bon voyage

P.I: I wrote this post at my work place. So I'm sure I need to set out on a trip too!
