Selfies, selfies & more selfies
Gone are the days when a picture was supposed to be sensible and pictures were solely meant for creating memories. Several types of photography emerged; portrait, wildlife, landscape. All was good until a bug named selfies started eating the brains of one and all.
True, it always existed. Every one of us has at least once tried when we didn't even know what it meant. It was just the craze of getting oneself clicked. But then, it was sane since it wasn't exaggerated.
I don't know which dumb-ass thought of making this selfie a trend. Within some time, the selfie stuff got viral. You could literally see every one clicking. All you need is a cam. Doesn't matter which. Mobile cams being commonly used, doesn't rule out DSLR's. I know of thin framed people clicking themselves in mirror with DSLR holding it at weird angles. "True it's hurting my wrist, but I'll give a smile untill its broken"
Sigh!
It was more often seen to be a fad with girls, untill recently when I saw literally guys getting more caught up with it. Wow! When did that happen? A small kid showing off his tattoo's selfie to an uncle showing his hairy feet immersed in stream selfie entitled me & my hairy feet. (seriously, u get to see it all on FB)
The media is big time responsible for it. You see several people doing it on social networking sites and it goes on to trend. Further fuelled by articles on newspapers & magazines. I see every weekend an article on it. A page full of it. So much of discussion and importance for such a silly topic. They also give u tips on "how to have that perfect selfie."
When did we get so obsessed with it ?!
Finally, some hope is that as they say no trends last long, especially in India, even this will fade away to some extent. Hey bhagwaan ye agli generation ko bacha Lena. Let faith in humanity be restored. :P
Peace
